The story so far

First launched in 2022, our Visiting Caseworkers support households with more complex needs to make grant and services applications, while also working with the applicant to access support from the NHS, local authorities and other organisations.

In their first year, our two Visiting Caseworkers helped clergy families to secure over £280,000 in external funding, including Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payments (PIPs) and Disabled Facilities Grants.

They have also provided debt support, mental health support, emotional support, helped with EHCP (education, health and care plans) and tribunals, and supported with home aids and adaptations, as well as occupational therapy assessments with our partners, The OT Practice.

Our Visiting Caseworker Manager

We're delighted that Lindsay, one of our original two Visiting Caseworkers from when the service was first launched, has now become our first Visiting Caseworker Manager.

"I am excited by my new role and the expansion of the team, which will allow us to support more families."

"In 2023, the team of two supported over 100 households, and assisted them in finding over £385,000 in under-claimed state benefits."

"As well as supporting applicants to apply for our own grants, Visiting Caseworkers can help people to access local services, to make appeals, to challenge decisions and get provision for children with SEN needs."

This service has become a critical area of our mission. Thanks to the hard work of both of our original caseworkers, the grants and services we offer have never been more accessible. We're privileged to have them both onboard... and that's why we're growing the team.

Growing the team

Following our successful two-year pilot of the Visiting Caseworkers Service, we've recruited two new Visiting Caseworkers - Antonia and Paul - to support grant applicants in the North West and South West of the UK.

Developing the service allows us to be there for more, often vulnerable applicants, in areas of the country which had been difficult for our existing team members to travel to.

We've only been able to expand the Visiting Caseworker Service thanks to the support of our Governors, our Stewards, supporters and donors.

If you feel able to make a donation through the link below, to help us continue to serve the people who spend their lives serving others, it would be very greatly appreciated.
